I was given the links to the two following organizations. Both organizations focus their work within the students population and I think that they are doing great work in bringing understanding to the complexity of the many factors that may contribute to depression in college students and in general.
What I particularly like about the work of studentdepression.org, is that it not only addresses the issue of depression as an illness ( a newly diagnosed illness) but that it also looks at the role that our modern society, globalization, and our increased isolation as people have on depression. It also echoes my own sentiment about the importance of understanding who we really are, as a way of pulling ourselves out of dark spots
