I was tidying up my email inbox and discovered the following photographs taken by a friend on my last trip to Sicily last month.
All the pictures were taken at the salt pans of Nubia, near Trapani. The mountain visible in the background of some the pictures is called Erice (if you don’t know anything about Erice I strongly suggest you google it – and then go)
Can you tell, looking at the pictures why I love Sicily so much?
And just look at this one! The pink of the water is not a trick of iphoto! The pink of the water is caused by a particular kind of Algae (can’t remember the name, or maybe I don’t actually know it). This incredible spectacle happens once a year. Isn’t it AMAZING?
